Rights and Duties

Rights of the Patient

The Patient has the right to be treated with respect for the human dignity;

The Patient has the right to be respected for his cultural, philosophical and religious convictions;

The Patient has the right to receive care suitable to his/her health status, in the scope of preventive, healing, rehabilitation and terminal care;

The Patient has the right to be provided with continuous care;

The Patient has the right to be informed about the existent health services, their competences and level of care;

The Patient has the right to be informed regarding his/her health condition;

The Patient has the right to obtain a second opinion regarding his/her health condition;

The Patient has the right to give or refuse his/her consent before any medical operation or participation in research or clinical trial;

The Patient has the right to confidentiality of all the clinical information and identifying elements about himself/herself;

The Patient has the right to access the data registered in his/her clinical file;

The Patient has the right to privacy during all and any medical operation;

The Patient has the right, for himself/herself or for whoever represents him/her, to present suggestions and complaints.

 

 

Duties of the Patient

The Patient has the duty of taking care of his/her health condition;

The Patient has the duty of providing the health professional with all the information necessary;

The Patient has the duty of respecting the rights of other patients;

The Patient has the duty of cooperating with the health professionals;

The Patient has the duty of respecting the operating rules of the health services;

The Patient has the duty of making good use of the health services and avoid unnecessary costs.

Suggestions | Complaints

The improvement or adaptation of the services in IPO-Porto is only possible with the contribution of those who, day by day, use these services. Thus, whenever you wish to make a compliment/complaint, you should go to the Patient Support Office.

In the Patient Support Office you may fill the form in the Compliments book or in the Complaints book. You also have the option of writing a letter directly to the IPO-Porto Management Board, to the address: Rua Dr. António Bernardino de Almeida, 4200-072, Porto.

All the compliments/complaints and suggestions will be forwarded and dealt with as best as possible and have the right of reply, being registered in the Complaints and Suggestions Management System (as long as they are identified with the complainant’s ID card number or the citizens card number). To make a suggestion, you should use the Suggestions Boxes distributed on the External Consultations area (3rd floor, Main Building).

You can also send a complaint anytime to the following e-mail address: gabinetedecomunicacao@ipoporto.min-saude.pt.

In case the reply to your complaint does not meet your expectations, you may contact the Management Board directly, by letter, through the abovementioned address.

O Guia do Utente é um documento que compila todas as informações consideradas relevantes para o utente durante a sua estadia/tratamento no IPO-Porto. Este Guia, que disponibilizamos para consulta online, é distribuídos a todos os novos doentes admitidos na Instituição.

Tempos de Espera

Um dos indicadores mais importantes na avaliação da qualidade do serviço prestado aos doentes do IPO-Porto é o tempo de espera para os vários serviços do Instituto.

Neste espaço, disponibilizamos, para consulta dos utentes, os tempos de espera máximos para cirurgia, tratamentos de quimioterapia e radioterapia, métodos complementares de diagnóstico e terapêutica e consultas médicas.

Ensaios clínicos

O IPO-Porto tem, em desenvolvimento, vários ensaios clínicos dentro de diversas áreas da oncologia, com o objetivo de testar novos métodos e medicamentos na luta contra o cancro. Nesta página, apresentamos os ensaios clínicos que se encontram em fase de recrutamento e a iniciar brevemente, dos quais descriminamos a indicação terapêutica, o título e descrição do ensaio e o estado em que se encontra.
